Our Approach to Sustainability

Sustainability

At Artisanal Yogurt, sustainability isn't a slogan β€” it's a series of deliberate, practical choices we make every day.

We focus on doing fewer things well: sourcing carefully, producing thoughtfully, and reducing waste where it genuinely matters. Rather than chasing perfection, we aim for progress that's honest and measurable.

Thoughtful ingredients

Sustainability starts with what goes into the jar. Fresh whole milk, live cultures, simple clearly listed ingredients. We avoid unnecessary additives, stabilisers, and preservatives β€” fewer ingredients mean less processing, lower resource use, and products that stay true to their natural form.

Fermentation as a low-impact process

Fermentation is inherently sustainable. It relies on time and biology, not heavy processing or complex machinery. By letting cultures do the work, we reduce energy use while creating food that is naturally preserved, flavourful, and nourishing. Our small-batch production keeps us flexible and helps us avoid overproduction.

Reusable glass packaging

We use reusable glass jars to minimise single-use waste. Glass is durable, food-safe, and endlessly recyclable. More importantly, it allows us to run a jar return programme β€” helping close the loop on packaging rather than contributing to it.

Jar Return Programme

We encourage customers to return their empty glass jars so they can be professionally cleaned, sanitised, and reused. Returning jars reduces packaging waste, lowers demand for new materials, and keeps our operations circular rather than disposable. Small actions, repeated consistently, make a real difference.

Small-batch production

We produce in small batches by design β€” to reduce food waste, maintain quality control, and adjust production based on real demand. We'd rather sell out than overproduce.

Local and considered distribution

Producing locally allows us to shorten transport distances, reduce cold-chain handling, and stay connected to our customers. We prioritise efficient delivery routes and thoughtful scheduling to minimise unnecessary trips.

What sustainability means to us

For us, sustainability is not about doing everything β€” it's about doing the right things consistently. Transparency over marketing claims. Practical systems over promises. Continuous improvement over perfection.

As we grow, our approach will evolve β€” but our intention will remain the same.

A shared effort

Sustainability is something we build together. Every returned jar, every thoughtful purchase, and every conscious choice helps shape a food system that's slower, simpler, and more responsible.

Thank you for being part of that.
